Laos
Whilst Thailand speeds headlong into the 21st century and Vietnam rapidly industrialises, Laos, sandwiched between the other two countries, seems content to remain as an Asian backwater, only gradually developing. Yet it is a remarkable country to visit. From the capital, Vientiane to the mystical religious city of Luang Phabang, from the higher reaches of the Mekong River to the magical Plain of Jars, this is a country for the discerning traveller.
