Thai people
have fiercely defended their country’s independence for more than
800 years. Even the word ‘Thai’ means free. The historic sites of
the old capitals of Sukhothai and Ayunthaya should be on the list of
places to visit. However the most popular destinations are the
capital, Bangkok, and the northern town of Chang Mai. The fabulous,
exotic islands to the south continue to draw many visitors, just
seeking sun and relaxation.
